Home of the Kentucky Derby by Kimberly B. at InsiderPages
You can't miss the Kentucky Derby. Buy tickets from the Churchill Downs website well in advance. Parking is very difficult so get there early. There are also other great races to watch at this track.

Awesome Place
The parking was pricey when I went ($10) but the museum and grounds there were unreal. Very well maintained and just an awesome experience!

Home of Horseracing
Historic horseracing track! Home of the Kentucky Derbyyou can't beat the spring meet, but fall is nice, too. Just $2 gets you in and you can stay as long or little as you like. Whether you like betting or not, this place has tons to do. Check out the paddock and witness some fine Thoroughbreds. Or get a historic look at the downs from the Museum. A must if you're in Louisville.

And They're Off!
You really should catch the fall or spring meet at Churchill Downs here in Louisville. You don't even have to be a betting person to enjoy the day. It's a beautiful place to spend with family and friends.

A Great Time!
Nothing like the Derby!! The drinks are pricy, but it's worth it.

Churchill Downs is a blast! by TL C. at InsiderPages
Churchill Downs is a blast! Even when it's not Derby time. The horse races are exciting, especially when you win. The kids even like going there. There's a playground, the Junior Jockey Club, and they always love to see the horses. At the Junior Jockey Club, children can participate in fun horse racing related activities.

Have fun at the races. by Judy W. at InsiderPages
I like going to Churchill Downs and watching the horse races. We usually go a few times during the year. This is a fun place to go. We always go into the club house, and usually pay a bit more and go up to the third or fifth floor. On the fifth floor you can see the horses run around the entire track. This floor has you sitting inside, but there is a small area where you can step outside. Expect to spend a lot of money at this place. You pay to get in, for a program, to make bets, and for the food. Food is pretty expensive. On occasion, they have special days where hot dogs and drinks are only a dollar. The restrooms on the first floor are not that nice, they are dark and dirty. The restrooms on the third and fifth floors are nice, and have hair spray, body spray, and candy sitting by the sinks. I only wish the smoking ban had been applied here, yes you can still smoke here. There are some non-smoking areas inside, but you still have to put up with some idiot smoking outside. Parking is now free.

Great race day excitement! by Sharon W. at InsiderPages
We visited Churchill Downs on a regular race day and were really impressed with how easy it was to get around. I know that on Derby Weekend it is quite busy but when we went the crowd was very manageable even with 2 toddlers. The staff was very helpful and wanted to make sure we enjoyed our visit. We were able to sit in seats right on the racing fence where we could experience the races firsthand. It was very cheap to get in and enjoy a full day of racing.

Very enjoyable by Hazel H. at InsiderPages
The museum is wonderful. There is a huge 360 degree theater that shows a day in the races. The museum has many exhibits that show different aspects of racing. The experience of being at a live race is incredible. Well worth the day.

Horse Racing
Churchill Downs is a horse racing fans dream! With all of the tradition of the Twin Spires and the Kentucky Derby, I would say that Churchill just may be one of the most famous horse racing tracks in the United States. The track has also just completed a major renovation. They offer a spring and fall meet for racing. If you are in town during one of their off times, you can still see a little bit of Churchill's history by visiting the Kentucky Derby Museum, which is located right next to the track.
