Changing for the worse...
A once caring and compassionate place for pets and their owners has turned into a nickel and dime hustle that reflects "subsidized healthcare" for animals. Your relationship with your vet should be a joint vested interest in providing care for your animals. Today, Dr. Mary Jane and the staff of Shively Animal Clinic lost my respect; not only as veterinarians--for undermining my intelligence to care for my animal, but as an amiable establishment for their rude dissension. Denied an over the counter dressing for my dog, and scolded about the seriousness of applying it, I was pressured to bring my furry friend in (after hours) to be examined. After I refused, explaining it was nothing serious—a cut that needed looking after; most likely a scrape from a sticker bush on our propertyI was denied a product that I could purchase myself online. “We don’t want to be responsible if the dressing isn’t put on correctly.” Uh, ok, let me get this straight You won’t sell me a glorified ace bandage, but you will sell me a product that has an MSDS on file with the federal government; i.e. Frontline and HeartGaurd. After their neglect of customer service (2 personnel and one supervisor later) and over-inflating the “seriousness” of dressing my dog’s wound myself, my husband and I have made the decision to remove our pets from their care and build a new relationship with a more helpful practice that advocates an owners proactive role in the health of their pets.

Don't Go To Shively
I have always taken my animals to Shively but one night, my friend's dogs got into a bad fight so I took their boston terrier to Shively, he was hurt bad. I was rejected service because I didn't have $150 CASH to have the dog seen after hours. It was the worst thing ever. And to add insult to injury, my friend was on her way to pay after having to talk with Animal Control for her other dog. But, they still rejected me and as I was leaving, I was called a DumbA$$ from one of their employees. NEVER GO TO SHIVELY PETA WILL BE NOTIFIED FOR THIS ANIMAL NEGLECT!!!!!!!!!!!

Dr Joe is rude to the nurses
Shively animal clinic is the only place I will take my pets to. Although I must say I was quite shocked to hear the way Dr. Joe Fuchs spoke to one of the nurses or receptionist there. We were coming out of room and he snapped at her to stop standing around and start checking people out, it looked to me like she was waiting on people to move so she could get through the hall to the desk. Regardless of what she was doing or not doing he has absolutely no right to defame or embarass anyone in front of several clients. This is not the first time I have heard him be rude or snide to the employees there. So from this point on I will choose to see a doctor who is more respectful to the employees. Shively animal clinic is wonderful but Dr. Joe is not all that he thinks he is. :(

You Get My 5 Stars by Terri S. at InsiderPages
Shively Animal is a 2-3rd generational family owned care facility whose Dr.s are some of the top in the city. We have used them after trying others - I would rather wait 2 hours for them. My pets love the vet techs and all the tech are very caring with them. The care is awesome, the prices don't rob you and I've never heard anything but respectful communication between Dr. and Techs including the front desk. My pets will always go to Shively. Sometimes doing things the old way(no computers)is not as bad as people think. It is one way they are able to keep cost down. Thank you Dr. Joyce for being so wonderful!

Shivley gives great service but some of the doctors are absoulutley horribl by J T. at InsiderPages
I used to work at Shively animal clinic and it was great to see animals getting the care they needed when they accutuallty recieved it. Unfortunetly it was usually a non stop unorgainized mess. They don't have computers which could be very beneficial after looking for a chart for a day because of a mis-file. They do everything old school to cut costs not to provide the most up to date care. They are open 365 days a year and all the doctors are dedicated to their jobs but regarding customer service they suck. All of the staff is rude and hateful because their boss Dr. Mary Jane Fuchs is hateful to them. She calls clients and staff things like stupid and much worst. That was is why I don't work there anymore. The atmosphere is too negative and when u have a sick pet u need caring people there not overworked zombies who have little experience and often make mistakes.

Great doc's-terrible service by leslie c. at InsiderPages
First and foremost, the doctors and the care at this facility are the best to be had in Louisville, however this office is completely stuck in the dark ages. Refusing to make appointments creates a chaotic atmosphere in a waiting room full of irritable clients. Wait times have often reached 3 hours or more just to have your pet seen. The lack of computers in this workplace significantly slows down the process of admitting, seeing, and charging patients, and i've noticed on more than one occassion that my handwritten record has been inaccuratehowever, the prices and the dr's are so good I'll probably keep going back in emergencies. I have a normal vet for everyday occurrances, because some days the wait just isnt worth it.

One vet I see by Letha C. at InsiderPages
I've tried other vets and find that the best care comes from the experience of the Shively Animal Clinic doctors. The wait is worth it. The cost is very economical because they do everything on volume. They are just phenomenal! They actually love animals; it's not just a job. Two generations of my family have been going to this place and I've recommended it to all who ask.

NOT GOOD MORAL'S OR PET CARE by MELISSA Y. at InsiderPages
They don't care about your pet or pet care.. They have no morals and they care about the money before anything else.. I will never go there again and never never recommend them to anyone.. Also i believe to save their own butt's they like to blame the owner of the pet's when something tragic happens and not man up for what they did.. Very bad business practices
